Let's Play Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis Part 6: Indi of Arabia
Well a try commentary with my good friend Atuko and a friend of ours, and we take Indiana into the desert of Algiers! Of course we lock a common art thief in his closet and steal his artifacts. So when did we become Nathan Drake?

A Knife Στίχοι/Poem by: Νίκος Καββαδίας-Nikos Kavvadias Μουσική / Music: Θάνος Μικρούτσικος-Thanos Mikroutsikos Πρώτη εκτέλεση / First Performance: Βασίλης Παπακωνσταντίνου-Vasilis Papakonstantinou Translation into English by zeena61 I always carry close under my belt A small steel African knife, Like one of those that negros used to play with, And that I bought from an old shop owner in Algiers. I remember, a if it were now, the old merchant, Who looked like an old oil painting by Goya, As he stood next to long swords and tattered uniforms Saying in a hoarse voice the following words: "This knife here that you want to buy has connections with legend and strange stories; everyone knows that each previous owner murdered someone close to him. With it Don Basilio killed his beautiful wife, Donna Julia, because she was unfaithful. Count Antonio, one night, the same to his poor brother with this knife here. A negro killed his young lover out of jealousy and some Italian sailor likewise to a Greek boatswain. From hand to hand it passed into mine. Many things my eyes have seen, but this one makes me shudder. Come close and look at it, it has an anchor and a crest, it's light, here hold it, it's not even a quarter pound, but I advise you to buy something else." -- How much? -- Only seven francs. You want it, take it. A small dagger I keep tight under my belt, that I made my own on a whim; and because I hate no one in the world enough to kill, I fear that some day I may turn it ...

Redeeming Medieval Captives -- The Story of The Order of Mercy
Redeeming Medieval Captives -- The Story of The Order of Mercy
www.orderofmercy.org - Imagine this It is the year 1225, and a small merchant ship from Spain pulls up its sails and anchors in Algiers, in northern Africa. But the ship's most important cargo is not olive oil or fruit. It is two Christian men who have offered themselves in exchange for other Christians who have been captured at sea by Muslim pirates. The men from the Spanish ship contact the Muslim rulers of the city, and the Muslims agree that they will give up the captives in exchange for the two men who have arrived. At another place in the city, the two captured crewmen peer out through the bars of a hot, dusty jail cell and see, approaching them, their jailers with several Spaniards. As the iron doors of the jail cell creak open, the captives stare in curiosity. In a rough voice, one of the jailers tells them that they can now go. The men learn that their liberty has come, and that two volunteers have generously given themselves in exchange for their lives. With gasps of incredulity and gratitude, the newly-released sailors whisper thanks to God. Thus begins another drama in the life of what was a fledgling religious group whose purpose was to rescue Christians whose faith is in danger of being lost. This group, the Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mercy, has its roots in Spain, in the year 1218, when Peter Nolasco started a new religious order whose purpose would be to liberate Christians who had been kidnapped and held captive by the Muslims, or Moors. Leo Fuld - Eretz Zavat Halav (Milk and Honey) (audio)
Leo Fuld - Eretz Zavat Halav (Milk and Honey) from the album "My Yiddishe Mama" Leo Fuld (1912 - 1997) He is still generally recognized as one of the truly great interprets of the Yiddish Song. His admirers and close friends included such celebrities as Maurice Chevalier, Frank Sinatra, Charles Aznavour, Frankie Laine and George Ulmer. He was born, as one of eight children into a modest family on 29 October 1912 in Rotterdam, Holland. A scholarship enabled him ti enter the Dutch Israelic Seminary in Amsterdam and became a precentor. Still a boy, only sixteen years of age, he was sent out every Sabbath to lead the Jewish congregations of small Dutch towns. Not quite a year later he successfully auditioned for the VARA Broadcasting Company and did a great number of Broadcasts for a full year, often several times a week. Leo Fuld was only eighteen when he was discovered by Eric Maschwitz, at the time Variety Director of the BBC in London. He became the very first Dutch singer performing for the BBC microphones and the success of his initial program led to a contract for a series of ten Broadcasts. It was during one of thesethat Leo Fuld's vocal artistry was noticed by Jack Hylton, leader of one the most popular orchestras in the era. Hylton immediately called the station relaying the broadcast and invited Fuld for a live audition at the Empire Theatre in Manchester. A two-year contract with Hylton involved a tour through Englandas well as of the Continent. After a year with ...
